Re T43 upgrades I just bought 50 T400S's. They are essentially T400's using some X301 technology. People seem to like them. However if you don't need the extra lightness (and premium price), the plain T400 (we've got a fair number of those) seem to run well. We had some fans go out (fixed under warranty) but that just seemed to be confined to one batch.
