I am trying to turn my 57) into a netbook by using a Cf card and an adapter like this one: http://www.addonics.com/products/flash_memory_reader/ad44midecf.asp

Problem is that the 570 does not 'see' the CF card as a drive at boot time. I know the adapter and CF card are good because I used the same set to create a Linux boot on an HP laptop.

Any ideas?
If you can, *partition* and format the card while it's in the 570. ThinkPads often use different drive geometry from other platforms, making the partitions created on other platforms invisible.
I never get that far. The adapter does not show up on the boot device list. And, after booting Knoppix from a cd, it is still not seen. There is just /dev/hdc which is memory.

The same adapter/CF card assembly works fine in a <cough> HP <cough> machine I have.
