A small dose of searching USB in the laserjet 1200 .pdf showed the printer does
have a USB port, still won't print.

I have XP

got it, hasn't changed since about 2003

>Use "Add or Remove" to uninstall your HP printer and all remnants and programs

in control panel:add-remove:nothing for hp or laserjet

in control panel::add-remove:printer-faxes, I deleted the hp lj 1200 instances.

I found nothing for "hp", "laserjet", "1200" in any of the listings.

I appreciate all your help, but with USB cable and your procedure, no go.

So I used regedt32 and deleted all the hp laserjet 1200 stuff that Find found,
a bunch of them, but those under USB keys would not delete.

rebooted. no USB cable installed. installed the hp laserjet 1200 driver,
USB0001 port, yes to print test page, I didn't get a prompt to plugin the USB
cable, so I plugged it, new hardware found, and still get print error.

>Good luck.

ain't got none!

thanks anyway.
