I guess I don't see @gmail.com as something you get "stuck with".�
it's an address and you get your mail...
if you NEED a special name for an address then I guess you need to stick
your hand in your pocket and pull out the cash.
gmail.com is FREE!!!
Perhaps I've been unclear:
1) if you ever decide that you don't like Gmail, you have to tell everybody
your new address (as just happened on the list, though with a different
provider). However, if you're using your own domain, then you can simply
change the plumbing behind the scenes. Meaning, you can keep using the same
email address, even if you decide to use another provider.
2) this solution costs roughly $8/year -- which, to me, is close enough to
free.
