Re: Regarding T4x temp control

TPfancontrol does not seem to have an option to change CPU speed in response to
temp, only fan speed in response to CPU. It also comes with dire warnings that
it's experimental, may corrupt embedded controller etc. But mostly it doesn't
seem to perform the function I'm looking for - downshift the CPU speed at a
lower temp than the factory overtemp setting.
Leaving the machine on leaves the HD on, plus... at 25c/ KWH even 30 watts x
750 hrs/month is about $50-ish a year.

----- Re - Regarding T4x temp control

First and foremost, to avoid the GPU problem, always lift the machine with both
hands.
If possible, never and I mean NEVER let it go to sleep or shut it off, just
turn the LCD off when not in use.
You can also try ThinkPad Fan Control, a lot of users are quite happy with it.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

Regarding T4x temp control

There is a set temp at which the system will cut CPU speed, and a slightly
higher temp at which it shuts down. Mobilemeter reports these are 88.5 and 93 C,
respectively. Is there a reasonable way to reset these? I'd like to lower the
first temp to stay clear of the T4x GPU issue and keep the machine a bit further
from accelerated aging.
