You need a new power jack. Replacements cost around $5 on eBay, and the replacement is solderless, but you need to completely disassemble the laptop to do the replacement. It is very frustrating, not because it is all that hard but because starting at around 50% disassembly you keep thinking that you've almost got enough of the thing apart to finesse out the jack...but you are wrong.

Subject: [Thinkpad] ThinkPad T-43

Hello.

I am new here so please excuse me if there is anything I am doing wrong.

I have a T-43 and about 4 months ago, my laptop would not charge. I know
its not the battery or the ac adapter because I checked both of those items with a another t43 and they work fine. Besides the charging part of it, the
laptop works fine. Runs windows and everything. Just cant charge. Its
like the AC is not there even though it is plugged in. Any help would be
great. I have looked at the motherboard and I don't see anything that is
burnt or broken.

Thanks for your help
