First, I'd recommend borrowing  a port replicator or docking station to see 
if it charges there.  That bypasses the power jack.  If it works on the 
dock, you do indeed have a bad power jack.  If not, there is some failure in 
the charging circuitry -- which does happen, just not as often as the power 
jack.  Start looking for a replacement main board (which IBM called a 
"planar").
