They're both great systems and you really can't go wrong with either.
My daughter has a T60 and my wife has a T61p. There are obviously a few
spec differences but they are more owner preference than real
differentiators. I personally prefer the 1920x1200 widescreen of the
T61p but that comes at the expense of being about 2" wider. Both are
built like the good old ThinkPads always have been. They still must be
pretty rugged because my daughter uses hers at college and lugs it
around all over the place.
The only issues we've had with them have been a failed HD on the T60 and
the battery suffering an early sudden death at 13 months on the same
system (this was a known issue that Lenovo issued a recall for, just not
for our particular system). But any T6x system should be beyond the age
where the battery failure would happen by now.

Subject line says it all. It's time to replace my wife's old T22 which has been
excellent. I've been looking at updating it to either a second-hand T60 or T61,
but I thought before I bought either, I'd ask you what you think :)
The machine will spend most of its time in the house rather than out on the
road and will be used mainly for very basic stuff like web browsing, email and
general stuff rather than anything complex or memory hungry like video editing.
I was drawn to the T22 because it was tough - she's not exactly careful with
stuff ! - and from what I read, all the 'T' series share similar qualities.
I've taken a look in the archives to see if anyone else has asked this question
and I couldn't find anything. I'd be very grateful for any thoughts or advice
on which one to get - or maybe someone can suggest one of the other ThinkPads
which might suit her better.
TIA
Dave
