So I have two dead system boards.

One fails with error 161 163 and a good backup battery.
Even if you have no backup battery, a system showing these
symptoms will take you to reset the BIOS clock and then
power recycle--if it has a good system board. However
these exact same error numbers ended for me with a message
to read the hardware manual. I guess they ran out of
diagnostic numbers. Anyway, the HMM says that if you have
a good battery, the system board is dead.

The other (from the parts machine) has no beeps on powerup,
power light comes on, screen black/blank. HMM > dead.

That leaves me with a bunch of parts. I have a question.
In the 600E, if you remove the modem card, obviously you're
going to expect to have a BIOS error message, but will the
machine still boot afterwards?

And a second question, did anybody ever make anything else
that would plug in where the modem board does? For example,
was there ever an Ethernet card?
