Yes it was the 1.03 firmware I meant. I got one of the Hitachi 100gb drives for my laptop that all the thinkpad related wiki sites say is not approved but works for the T43 but the howto said I would need to downgrade to the 1.03 firmware for the motherboard to not throw that 21** whatever error. I will try the drive in my laptop and see how it goes. It's easy enough to swap back if it fails I guess. Thanks for the information. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] Date: Mon, 20 Sep 2010 15:49:16 To: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Thinkpad] Does anyone know where to find the floppy disk bootable version of the firmware updater for Bios 1yuj03us
If you're referring to a HDD firmware update, that will only work with an OEM IBM/Hitachi drive. If you're referring to downgrading the BIOS to 1.03 I would STRONGLY advise you against it, since you will lose a lot of fan control and GPU support that came with later BIOS versions. I've been running a non-approved drive in a T43p for three years now with no issues, BTW. YMMV. Anyway its the one allowing you to install the itachi HDD that is 100gb in a T43. All I can find on Lenovo support is the ownloadable which fails with some unintelligible error before rebooting to erform the flash. ______________________________________________ hinkpad mailing list [email protected] ttp://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad _______________________________________________ Thinkpad mailing list [email protected] http://stderr.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/thinkpad
