Laptop is the goal here, for portability. We could buy a ginormous 18" screen job, but it'll weigh a ton (and won't be a Thinkpad). I'm inclined to worry about whether it's a ThinkPad or not for reliability reasons - I'm 400 miles away, and while I can do (most) software maintenance remotely, hardware is a bit trickier J But given those constraints, I'm willing to entertain alternatives.
