Hello,

I have a non-widescreen T61 (8892-02U) with 4GB of ram that I upgraded to a OCZ
Vertex 120 GB SDD and Windows 7 64 Bit some time ago. It worked out very well
with no issues. I do not miss the HDD spin noise.

Subject: [Thinkpad] T61p, SSDs, Win7

I am thinking of upgrading my T61p Machine Type 8889-6UG/UI06UGE, 4 GB RAM,
Seagate ST 9500420ASG, WinXP pro SP3 (downgrade, Vista ultimate licence).
Regardless of OS, any caveats about SSDs on this machine? I would like to try a
SSD, for speed. I don't need the currently installed 500 Gig. I am thinking OSC
Vertex2 240 GB or Crucial RealSSD C300 256 GB. They both should work in my
T61p, shouldn't they?
Can Windows 7 (64 bit) run smoothly on this machine?
Anybody got experience with this kind of upgrade, particularly the SSD stuff?
(The Win7 part is more out of curiosity than necessity.)
Thanks, TJ
