Jeffrey, I can't help with your question, but your mention of the keyboard piqued my interest. (I am of the Selectric using generation, and I am typing this on a 1993 Model M buckling-spring keyboard that feels just like the original IBM PC keyboard).
I am pleased to hear that there is a keyboard that combines a Trackpoint with a good touch. Which one are you using? -- this one?:
