My wife's T60 got taken over by a trojan that wrecked the MBR. Could not do a Restore from the utility partition, because as I discovered, there was no recognition of the SATA drive. Only too late did I find that all I had to do was go to BIOS and change it from AHCI to "compatability". Wasted multiple hours getting to that point. Even put the drive on my desktop which has sata and saved/backed up her files.

Without the T60 disks, my next best shot was using my T42 disks, but after they failed a couple of times, I finally figured it out. Found all the necessary drivers at Lenovo/IBM and have almost finished the restore. Sure wish that the Restore disks (minus an OS) were available for download from Lenovo.

The sign goes back up on the wall - "New PC? Make Restore Disks NOW!" Had I done that a year ago, or even 3 months ago when she had a virus, we would'nt be in this place. Keep your own sanity, and don't let anyone who wants to "maintain their own computer" keep you from doing what's right.

If there is anyone in the S.F. Bay Area that has a set of T60 disks, I'd love to hear from you.
