You might also look into a Windows Repair / Recovery disc.
NeoSmart.net has a free ISO image for download for various
windows versions. They are about 150 Meg, so fit on a CD or
a USB memory stick.  They also have a free utility to do
maintenance on the Windows boot.

In addition, DFSee.com has a utility that can save / restore
MBR, partition tables, partitions, disks, and lots more.
