from Lenovo lets you do this:

Can I do it as well with what I already have on hand?
I do have a W7 Ultimate upgrade edition DVD (from an upgrade from Vista on
another machine) that has both 32 and 64 bit installs on it, and my
X201t is
running 64 bit W7 Professional and I have a recovery preload from it
available. Can I make the change with one of these, or do I have to
track down the
media from Lenovo?
I don't know the answer with regard to any of the scenarios you
mentioned, but on 12/4/11 Dominique Pivard posted to this list a
legal/free method for installing W7 Pro 64 on an X301 originally loaded
with W7 Pro 32. He linked to this thread on Bill Morrow's forum
http://forums.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=92409&p=605554#p605554
and the last three posts in that thread contain the relevant info.
