IBM should still have these fans in stock. If not, feebay is your friend. Given the vintage of T41p model line, the fan should definitely be replaced IMO.

IOW, if the only reason to remove the palm rest is to replace the fan, I might as well wait. If there's some benefit to removing palm rest and blowing air in, I'll do it. Also, any good sources of a T41p fan unit?
