IBM should still have these fans in stock. If not, feebay is your friend.

Given the vintage of T41p model line, the fan should definitely be replaced IMO.

Cheers,

George

Subject: [Thinkpad] T41p: Fan Error (have the machine open now)

Hello,

I got a fan error on this T41p and have removed the keyboard per the
HMM (not the palm rest yet). I have blown out all the dust and also
held the fan in place while I blow on the fan blades.

If the fan unit needs replacement, I'll have to shop for one and while
I'm doing that, get the data off the HD and on to this person's new
machine.

So do I need to proceed with removing the palm rest at this point, or
can I put the KB back in and see if the computer will boot up? IOW, if
the only reason to remove the palm rest is to replace the fan, I might
as well wait. If there's some benefit to removing palm rest and
blowing air in, I'll do it.

Also, any good sources of a T41p fan unit? Computer is a 2373-GEU
which seems to mean a "Fan assembly (long) M10", P/N 13R2657

Thanks!
