My own experiences mirror what Chris had stated - never bricked a ThinkPad while updating the BIOS.
I have bricked a couple with BIOS hacks, though - but that's a whole another matter. I stay away from firmware updates if the device performs well, unless it's a hard drive. YMMV. I've been updating my ThinkPads' BIOS since 1993 every time I notice a new one. Never bricked a machine once. Ok, thats good to hear thanks. Have you done the firmware updates for various devices as well?
