Ok thanks for the information about wd40.
I know I should of taken the keyboard off but I haven't done it yet on the t60
so I did not want to go through what i expect is a lengthy process.
How often do they turn up on ebay in the US?
Would any Thinkpad fan do or are do i have to specifically look for a t60 fan?
thanks

No WD40 anywhere in *any* ThinkPad....
Proper way of cleaning the fan is with keyboard removed, and the fan
held from above.
You can get a new fan on eBay for about $40 around here, don't know
the prices in UK.
Good luck
Cheers,
George

Subject: [Thinkpad] Fan whine on T60 Thinkpad
Lo,
I was very happy with the second hand T60 until i blasted the fan
vents with compressed
air.
Yes i know i should of fixed the fan before hand but i couldn't find
anything thin enough to
fit through the vents.
Now of course it whines like mad and I was wondering if anyone knew
how i could fix it?
Would WD40 sprayed on the fan middle work?
Otherwise it looks like I will have to find a dead t60 Thinkpad on ebay :(
I am an idiot but hopefully it will serve to remind others not to do
what i did.
