Our experience here is about equal. Same percentage of failures of Official Lenovo Batteries as from those purchased on eBay from sellers with ratings of 19.7 or higher. That is since 2004 on well over 500 Thinkpads... We have had about the same percentages of true disasters from Lenovo Batteries... our best record so far This year is from an eBay brand named AGPtek. Lenovo does not make their own batteries, either, as far as I can tell. We have a number of contracts with businesses with field sales forces, and public health investigators.
We have learned you cannot assume that the Lenovo batteries will be trouble free... but at least Lenovo can be expected to replace any bad ones, where as getting a replacement from an eBay seller is nigh onto impossible. And we do get good bulk prices from Lenovo... just not close to the eBay batteries.
