I used a W500 quite similar to that one for six months as my "main" machine and
was very impressed. My only grievance - albeit a major one - was an absolutely
horrendous LCD, which was a Samsung WUXGA. Given that you're getting a version
with WSXGA+ you should be OK.

My unit was next to silent in normal use, in both Vista and Linux. Switchable
graphics are a very nice touch. Original drivers for Intel wireless card were
pretty shoddy, I believe that this was improved along the way.

Not too many applications exist that these units won't handle. That being said,
they are desktop replacements - big and bulky.

My experiences only.

Cheers,

George

Subject: [Thinkpad] Opinions of ThinkPad Lenovo W500 (B13) T4061B13

Shoppers:

I'm buying a refurbished notebook from the IBM Family
& Friends site as a gift and would like opinions of
the model on which I've fixed, the ThinkPad Lenovo
W500 (B13), AKA T4061B13.

I do not hesitate in making such a request because I
have learned that there is always an ample supply
available on this list of strong opinions based on
extensive knowledge and -- more importantly -- on
experience.

I look forward to your collective wisdom.

Thank you.
