Hmm... Maybe you could try uninstalling Access Connections, then reboot to
be on the safe side, then run System Update again and it should reinstall
AC.

Indeed, as you mentioned, you could uninstall most or all of the
ThinkVantage stuff and let System Update reinstall it. Worth a try anyway.
