While generally a solid build, T60/p does have a few weak spots: Hinges become wobbly after a while.
Fans (on ATi-based units) tend to get noisy after a while. Higher-end "p" units run quite hot in general. RAM limit is 3GB although the machines will accept 4GB and "see" it in BIOS. The last gig remains unusable regardless of OS used. If given a choice, go for one of the machines with a Core 2 Duo CPU (T5500/5600 or T7200/7400/7600) since these run both faster and cooler. As on T43/p, the higher-screen resolutions on 15" units (SXGA+ and UXGA) are FlexViews. If you have a list of requirements, feel free to drop me a line, I usually have several (15" only) machines available. Happy shopping. I have seen and touched a T60 and the keyboard is actually OK for me. I have a vague idea to get one because it was probably manufactured later than my T43s and so should carry me longer before parts become scarce. I'd welcome comments from list members who have experience with both. Any gotchas about the T60 (compared to T43 which I know well)? Any particular T60 models to seek or to avoid? I see lots on ebay now at reasonable prices for my depleted budget (depleted by daughter in college). I'd install OS/2 (now know as eCS) and run WXP in a virtual machine so RAM is important. What is the maximum T60 RAM capacity. Vary by model? Tks vy much for all ideas.
