For the past two days the dot-matrix printer on LPT1

to shut down the printer, so I've lost an important

Any ideas how to diagnose or cure this problem? I have
no idea even on what string to google

Rip out the printer, reboot, and add it again. If endless printing,
it isn't the hardware's fault, but Windows keeping track of what
it's done. You can take a look and see if there is a new driver
for the printer, as long as you're dealing with it.
Annoying. I saw this some years ago and a re installation fixed
it.
