The extension will be broken for just as long as it takes the webmail author to analyse the changes and rewrite or patch the extension, usually not very long. I don't believe that MS go out of their way to change the Hotmail system just to stop people using TB instead of Outlook. On the other hand, they have no obligation to consider TB users when changing Hotmail.
