I finally got this working with the latest beta of webmail 1.3.3b3 plus hotmail 1.2.19b45 but after years off having my hotmail account I'm just going to go through the hassle and switch to Gmail because whenever I've had to re-setup Thunderbird the webmail plugin for Gmail always works without a problem for me.
I understand it's not the authors fault for hotmail not working and it's pretty much a microsoft design change issue every time they decide to change the interface. I've just gotten sick of having to deal with hotmail on this. thanks to the author for his continued work on this though.
