I had the same STAT problem with hotmail 1.2.17, which worked until some days before. I realized that hotmail.com showed this info page and quitted that and changed to "Dont show again". Untortunately they also showed this welcome page now. So I changed to go to the inbox directly. But that doesn't help. I had to update to hotmail 1.2.45b and now I can retrieve my mails from my two hotmail accounts. I tried to send a mail but hotmail 1.2.45b is asking for the password of localhost in an endless loop. So I quitted the sending.
But I'm happy to get my mails at least.
