This is what I found on the web some time ago and that has always worked for me.
Andy HOWTO: THIS IS A SOLUTION TO NEGATIVE VIBES PROBLEMS FOR SOME PEOPLE: In order to fix the problem, in Thunderbird click on Tools and then click on Extensions , click on "Webmail - Hotmail" and then click on "Options" or "Preferences" (the name of the button you have depends on the language of your Thunderbird program). Click on "Mode" , click on the account that gets negative vibes and click on "Change mode". Click on "WebDav" and then click on OK. Click on "Close" and then click on the X button in the top right corner of the extensions window in order to close it. It works for me now.
