Thanks alan, I got it fixed now. For those having the same problem let me recoup what's gotta be done :
1. Log in to your hotmail account using a web browser (Firefox, Opera or Internet Explorer). 2. You'll see a welcome page explaining what's new in this version of hotmail and blah blah. 3. Tick the box for "don't show me this again" (or something in that direction) and click on the "Continue" button. 4. Voila! You're done. Webmail should work fine now.
