Hi Mark,
At present, only the Beta version (the one where you have a link at the 
top of the web page to"Mail Classic") works. Yahoo have done something 
to the coding of the Classic web mail interface that prevents the 
extension working. The only combination that works is "New Mail" on the 
web site and "Beta" in the extension.
To send, the port number in the SMTP server settings in the "Account 
Settings" of Thunderbird must match the port number of the SMTP server 
setting in the webmail extension options. Default for both is 25, this 
should work in Windows, Unix based systems need this to be a number 
above 1024. The username needs to be the full email address, using only 
the part before the @ is a common error
