I had the same problems, and fixed it and use it with all the yahoo,
hotmail, etc.  How I did it.

Control Panel > Windows Firewall
Click on Exceptions Tab
Add Program > Scroll to Mozilla Thunderbird Click
Then When you are back to the Exceptions click on Add Port
name it mail port TCP 110
click ok
Add Port Again
name it mail also TCP 25
click ok
Click ok and exit Control Panel
You should have email!

It worked for me, using firewall and Anti-virus
before I was getting bad vibes and other error.  No problems yet. !
also make sure you change your smtp outgoing server to reflect
webmail, or you might get some emails lost.
