Try logging in thru the hotmail site. Look at your messages there may be either message that MS wants you to look at before proceeding or there is problem with that particular message. I had one recently that cause my downloads to hang, All I did move that email to another folder temporary to verify that was was the case and since that message was the cause I deleted it and ask the sender to resend it.
