In Thunderbird, go, "Tools", "Add-ons". Select the webmail extension and click the "Options" button. Under the "Logging" tab you can enable logging and choose the folder where the log files will be saved. It's not a good idea to leave logging permanently enabled, the files will soon become very large. Better to just turn logging on when needed for trouble shooting.
