I think I know the problem - some of the accounts have started to migrate to the new version of Hotmail:
New: http://imgur.com/T2Mva.png Old: http://imgur.com/NF1Gl.png The account that switched to the new version hits the same issue as mentioned in the other thread. The older account still reads mail perfectly fine. The switchover happened sometime today for me, so I think they're eventually migrating all accounts over to the new interface.
