If I do a auto setup in Thunderbird it sets up a SSL encrypted connect
to a pop3.live.com server on port 995.
This seem to work. But I guess it's not using webmail addon then?
Correct, you're not using the extension when you connect to
pop3.live.com. If this works and does all that you need, there's no real
reason to use the extension. The main benefit of using the extension is
that it can download emails from folders other than the inbox on the
Hotmail site. The pop3 connection has to follow the rules of the pop
protocol, which means, among other things, that it can only download
from the inbox on the pop server.

I have tried both on the machine that are supposed to get the e-
mails..
It's a Swedish windows XP running SP3 and using Swedish Thunderbird
with just about every version of webmail and webmail hotmail
released..:)
At least that I could find.
I have also tried setting up my own Thunderbird against this hotmail/
live account with no luck..
Running English win7 x64 with English Thunderbird and latest webmail
and webmail hotmail addon versions. Accessing other hotmail accounts
that are working.
I also tried moving her account from the Swedish hotmail server to
Denmark, where I have my own hotmail account, no luck.
I tried changing language in hotmail to English.. No luck.

Perhaps I should also add that she have a hotmail + account. Or at
least she used to have one, not payed lately..
I find no agreement to accept, I think I remember doing that like a
year or two ago?

I came this several months ago. MS is no longer offering the old style
login. This option was removed from the extension as it was no longer
needed.
MS is also starting a new changeover to another new system for all
users: although, it is being installed in stages. Not all users are
being affected at the same time. This causing some of the negative
vibes that users are coming across. I started receiving the negative
vibes today myself. When I pull up my account I had to agree to the
Terms and Conditions question before I could proceed to my Inbox. I
wasn't able to logout as I have cookies blocked on my end but is a
preference of mine.
Try this login into the account via the web thru Firefox or other
browser. Once you login you will probably find a terms agreement
question that to be answered.
Since you changed several things, I would try setting a second hotmail
webmail account in TB using the defaults settings and give it a try.

Hello again..
Since you haven't responded to my mail or here I have no tried to
change settings of hotmail to go to inbox instead of live homepage as
explained in this
post..http://groups.google.com/group/thunderbird-webmail-extension/msg/a184...
Still don't work.
I have also tried to install 1.2.26 and 1.2.28 with the same results..
I can't find any way to change the addon to use old or new way to
login to hotmail.. I seem to remember there used to be a button to do
this but I cannot find it now.

I also explained in the mail what changes I've done to the file.
Replacing e-mail address and password, nothing else.
