As someone who is experimenting with Cake (and whose recommendation would
directly influence other developers) and who was looking for an answer to
the same question, I find this response incredibly arrogant. At the very
least an explanation of why allowing AclBehavior to generate aliases is a
bad idea would be helpful. Since it seems that a number of Acl functions
rely on aliases, a "best practice" would also be useful. Surely making
another trip to the database to update a record that was just
updated/created is NOT the most efficient way of handling this, but it's
the only way I see at the moment.

Of course, I'm new here, so I could be wrong about that.

CakePHP : The Rapid Development Framework for PHP <https://trac.cakephp.org/>
Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly known design
patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC.
Our primary goal is to provide a structured framework that enables PHP users at
all levels to rapidly develop robust web applications, without any loss to
flexibility.
