Comment:

 Since all of these methods and properties are being accessed inside the
 Class methods I don't really see the issue.  Due to the static class
 workarounds required for PHP4 things are the way they are.  If you were to
 replace {{{$_this->}}} with {{{self::}}} there would be no issues that I
 can see.
