 Please take note of the big fat warning on that post that says


 > Ok, you probably won't need it in most cases, but it would be really
 nice if it were there when you DO need it.


 Cake is not for the things that "you probably won't need in most cases",
 it is for the things you probably ''do'' need, ''most'' of the time.  99%
 of the time, the need for a feature like this indicates poor application
 design, and I have no interest in promoting poor application design.
