One of the members[1] of SCiO [2] (an organization to which I belong)
to has a 'fractal database' technique which enables the modeling of
systems using the Viable System Model [3] which as a recursive fractal
like structure. He uses mySQL and does stuff in quite large projects.
For the project I am doing, he thinks that the full fractal database
treatment is overly complex. Somewhere down the line though, I would
like to think that my TW could be used across a large organization to
gain multiply perspectives on that organization. The ability to save
this data onto a database so that existing custom tools, such as the
Mircosoft ones created by the member of the group, running off a type
of 'fractal database' appeal to me.

I also know this much: the second 'M' in 'MAMP is mySQL! - so it must
be part of what needs to be done right!???!?!?!???? ;)

>Also, what is your timeline?
The most pressing is the first project - that academic writing project
for the mental health care trust. I can demo my existing TW to them
and it would be great if they could also see a web based application
or even better one which can run on their intranet, which is , i
think, 'Sharepoint'.
But there is a big but - there is no guarantee that they will take it
up and be able to commit to it being operational.
The project is up for re-newal (or not!) at the end of May.
**If it is ok, I would rather talk about this one off list. There may
be some interesting ideas which we could talk about, but i'm not
really sure if the people i am working with would like the details of
the project on the web.

Another project has come up today after I demoed one of the
questionnaire TWs. This has not been put into a timeline either, but
is less time critical, but has more chance of being completed. My
academic friend was asking who owned the copyright this very morning
(-- i showed him UnaMesa on the code -- and he noted it down.) This
project is likely to have some IP issues. There is potentially parts
of a book [4] going into the TW to surround the questionnaire. The
accademic in question is keen also to explore creativity and IP (open
innovation is on his radar, but creative commons is not) with one of
his DBA students who has a keen interest in IP and software
innovation.

The other projects are not managed to a timeline. Part of the problem
is that I can't commit to a deadline as I don't know how long it will
take for me to deliver so I have not stuck my neck out. I did slightly
today - i thought that i would be 6 months before it would be up and
running with web enabled features.

>If we decided to go down this road together I'll need to check with Chris that
>we can get something ready for you in
time.
I don't want to put you out, but that would be great. I might be able
to work it into another project I am currently writing a proposal for;
a public engagement project. It combines systems, community groups
and IT. For this project, one of my potential partners is a seasoned
IT architect and wants to use DSDM V4.2 [5] to run things to a plan.
So in this case, we could manage the timeline as part of a proposal,
and if the proposal was taken up, i think it reasonable that your
support be incorporated into the budget. (the funding director might
like this). My potential partner is keen that the proposal is managed
to make sure that the project proposal can deliver what it promises at
the right time and price - she rightly has spotted that I am not an
expert software developer and has rightly identified areas of risk.
**again, probably best to talk more about this off line.

>c) you will need to accept that you're an alpha tester and all the usual fun
>that comes with that. :)

This sounds excellent. I would love to be an alpha tester. It would be
a great honor. Please sign me up! I think it would inspire confidence
in others so that they would be more willing to embrace the TiddlyWiki
way. I hope that my contribution will have some value; one of the
things I have thought about is making the work on the TWs I develop
available for distribution to non-profits - but this is something I
need to talk about with the organizations. I don't want your kind help
to be a one way thing, i would like to help as well as be helped.

So that I can put some feelers out, what kind of time do you think it
would take to get something "focused around aggregating the form data
in a customized TiddlyWeb server, with admin users able to see all the
data."? I have already got my TW questionaire.

If I could demo this I could get the systems questionnaire project
going as soon as - I am seeing them on this Sunday, they would be very
excited to see something that worked, even something quite shaky.

Best Wishes

Alex
