In terms of getting jQuery plugins I agree it's not as straight forward as it could be.. but this post: http://www.hawksworx.com/journal/2009/03/13/leveraging-jquery-and-jquery-plugins-in-tiddlywiki/ outlines it quite well...there is no need to change $ to jquery as you can create it's own scope (blog explains more).
