Please read the TiddlyWikiDev discussion, re: concerns that the 'alias' technique for scoping of $(...) may not be sufficient to avoid conflicting definitions when invoking other functions from *within* that local scope. The current consensus seems to be that we need to better understand the subtle issues and will be deferring use of $ (...) until those concerns are completely resolved.
