Hi All Still messing around with multi-user (small collaborative groups of 5 to 12 people) use of TW. I haven´t had time to fully investigate ccTiddly, and TiddyWeb is way beyond me....I can´t get to base one in the install instructions!!!!
So my approach is this - Each user has a TW on their computer...complete with all the great plugins that make it look and work how I want!...its up to 0.8 Mb. And I used TiddlyTools ExportPlugin to create an almost empty TW (tiddlers only - no core stuff) to store the actual information...and put that on my server. each time a person opens their TW (and are connected to internet...some by slower connections...common here in Brasil) the defaul tiddler uses TiddlyTools LoadTiddlersPlugin to check for and load any new additions (from the small TW file on the server) deposited recently by others in the group. each time a person creates or edits a tiddler, it (the tiddler only) gets uploaded to the TW using BidiXTW UploadTiddlerPlugin (and great macro)....which is pretty fast as its only uploading one tiddler at a time. what happens if two people are using it at the same time? as I said UploadTiddler is pretty fast, so they would have to be trying to upload at almost exactly the same time....within seconds maybe...not likely with such a small group. In this case TiddlyLock doesn´t apply as it locks the local file....the file that is in danger of being doubly accessed is the TW on the server....which has no Core so TiddlyLock doesn´t apply. interestingly, this scheme means that at all times I/we have multiple backups of the data (in each persons local computer)..although only the person who last used it has the full copy (and the on-line TW obviously). My question is simply, can you TW wisards set an obvious, serious flaw in this working...I have set up a small test and it seems to be working OK. Any thoughts or suggestions?
