I'm processing very similar thoughts and greatly benefiting from this discussion:
might the difficulties outlined by FND be bypassed by doing something like this: first, tag tiddlers that no-one can edit easily (by removing the edit box), secondly, for the editable tiddlers, automate a copy of every edited tiddler with a name like "Tiddler Title TimeStamp" where the "TimeStamp" part is appended based on the time at which the page was downloaded by the user (the copy is created every time the edit button is pushed). Once in a while you can merge multiple edits and delete unnecessary copies. Might that work for a small number of multiple users?
