Birthe, I am now having network troubles as well from linux mint. It is acting differently for me than what you are describing, but I am going between linux mint and osx. The changes only seem to go one direction. This wasn't happening before so I think I must have done something to break it in one of the last few days.
Are both computers you are using to test with running linux mint? It may be the same problem but it acts differently between different operating systems.
