Jeremy Aggreed. The collaboration setting may not be appropriate. Perhaps my question was premature as I did not know what settings were already set.
Since my question I took a group I own and switched between the multiple options. It seems to me that we have not considered this as a way to get gg doing what we need as a forum. There may be value reviewing this. As far as I can see it only changes the tools available in the online forum client. Yes perhaps we can discuss.
