Try adding xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"; in the opening svg tag. It 
might be invalid without that

You're exactly right Thomas, svg tiddlers will not display without the svg 
namespace declared-- svg's in type not set/txt/vnd or html (which I use) 
don't need it

version="" isn't required but for proper codeing its suggest (tho not need 
for SVG2)
