Well, I guess I was a bit hasty... maybe there are plenty of reasons why single tiddlers are a good idea... *tiddlerlists in slidebar *search finds the slideshow and not the slide etc...
What is the difficult bit in terms of dom manipulation? Couldn't you just have dom elements, maybe called "previousslide", "currentslide", "nextslide"... in which you would render the respective contents corresponding to the "slides" as defined in your slideshow tiddler... so that these prepopulated elements could even be animated with things like slide transitions?
