Hi TwWizards

I had so much fun installing this PuppyLinux derivative (puppy 4.3) on
a small usbstick (distro with FF 3.5.5 = 78 mb) that I had to share it
with you all..

http://www.browserlinux.com/

1 Download iso and burn it to a cd
2 Boot pc from cd
3 Use the tool for formatting an usb to whatever mode that suits you
best (it can even simulate a floppy disk to boot an old pc from an
usb!) - NB the usb wil be totally erased even if partitioned.
4 Use universal installer to install on usb
5 Reboot - this time from usb
6 Click network connections (icon on desktop) and setup wirless or lan
connection (wpa - compliant)
7. Use FireFox 3.5.5 with flash 10 - and save any changes you make to
the usb - it's consistent! FF runs faster compared to any other system
(windows Xp and Ubuntu linux) or pc I've tried so far - and it seems
to be very stable.

Optional: Install JRE 1.6.0 11 (34 Mb) and Mplayer + Browser Plug-in
(17 Mb) - and/or add other/extra program packages "pets" - I intalled
goOo.sfs which is OpenOffice 3.1.1 in a extremely quick Novell-based
version (170 mb) and set it up to start when booting the system.

The usb-filesystem is fat32 but the sfs- files (consistent
systemsaves) are ext2 - if you plan to use it with a local TiddlyWiki
that can be accessed from the usb when you are not booted into Puppy
Linux you'll have to save it to the fat32 part of the system..

The usb boots in less than 30 seconds on my pc (even with the extra
goOo.sfs) and it is incredibly fast when it's up and running -
compared to anything I know - that is...

regards Måns Mårtensson
