Talha has given you a great comprehensive answer. 

I will just add that you can set the caption field on any tiddler and lists 
can use this rather than the tiddler title. This allows icons and special 
characters to be used, even the same name in more than one tiddler (Why you 
would I am not sure).

Just ask if you need more detail when you get to acting on what you have 
learned here.
