Thanks @Mohammad; great tip to avoid links to nonexistent tiddlers (certainly better avoided :-). Since all those page "templates" were replicated by copy/paste, i'll be busy for a while replacing all those list refs with a simple count as you suggest... But it is just this sort of pain that makes the lesson memorable, i guess. Onward!
